Once a major wool town, Stamford used to form part of the Great North Road. Many of Stamford’s buildings are constructed from Lincolnshire limestone, giving the town a distinguished appearance and making it incredibly popular with its 18,000 residents, tourists and even movie and TV directors. Stamford featured in both Pride and Prejudice and The Da Vinci Code movies in recent years.

The well-preserved and picturesque cobbled stoned street, which nestles behind All Saints’ Church, was used in the BBC TV series Middlemarch.
