Kier Partnership Homes Celebrates the launch of their new show home in Lydney

Kier Partnership Homes held a special event on 26 January to celebrate the opening of Oakdale – its exciting new development of two, three and four-bedroom homes and two-bedroom apartments at Lydney, Gloucestershire. Oakdale was formally opened by Cllr John Bartle from Lydney Town Council, and joining him to mark the occasion was Susan Godwin, a volunteer from Kier Partnership Homes’ nominated charity, Help for Heroes*.

A range of homes are available to buy, both outright and shared equity. Prices start from £149,995.

The Oakdale homes are designed to a high specification; Kier sets a very high standard for build quality, as well as internal features. Each property benefits from high-specification kitchens, complete with integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer. The bathrooms and en suites are also finished to a modern design, with quality chrome fittings. The showhome, which has been dressed by award winning interior designers, exemplifies Kier’s commitment to a quality finish.

Oakdale has been built in partnership with MMC2 Land and Regeneration, and leading affordable housing provider, Bromford. Kier received grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency to complete the development.

Higher Lydney Park will eventually deliver 600 much-needed new homes to Lydney and the Forest of Dean. The first phase at Oakdale includes 134 new homes, of which 54 are open market sale and 80 are affordable homes. Kier Partnership Homes has created new and safeguarded existing local jobs at this development project, providing a further economic boost for the area.

Kier Partnership Homes’ managing director, Chris King, said in his opening speech:

“Today is a special day for us and our partners, MMC2 and Bromford. It marks the culmination of a lot of hard work, commitment and tenacity. We are very grateful for the funding provided by the Homes and Communities Agency, which has enabled us to build these affordable homes. I am also delighted that our visitors have been very impressed with the showhome.”

Cllr Bartle added:

“I am delighted to open this development – Kier’s decision to invite a local guest has been well received by Lydney Town Council. Oakdale will provide much-needed new homes and employment for Lydney. Having 50 per cent of this good quality accommodation allocated for affordable homes is a vast improvement upon the 15 per cent given in the past. I admire Kier’s local approach to procurement, with 80 per cent given to businesses within the Forest of Dean.”

Lydney is a small Gloucestershire town, set in a beautiful location on the west bank of the River Severn, in the Forest of Dean. The town lies on the A48 road and is nine miles from Chepstow. Cheltenham and Gloucester are also accessible by road. Lydney railway station, on the Gloucester-Newport line, offers a fast and frequent service into Gloucester in approximately 20 minutes and Chepstow in around 10 minutes. Lydney is a popular tourist destination with a range of traditional shops and many visitor attractions. Sports and leisure activities are also well catered for.
